The League of Humane Voters works to advance animal-protection legislation at every level of government — municipal, county, state, and federal. Our agenda is set by our members and carried out through our chapters and committees, who evaluate candidates, lobby lawmakers, and mobilize the humane vote.
Our Legislative Priorities
- Companion animals — stronger anti-cruelty laws and enforcement.
- Wildlife — ending inhumane trapping, hunting, and habitat destruction.
- Farmed animals — improving conditions and supporting humane alternatives.
- Animals in research and entertainment — reducing suffering and increasing transparency.
How We Work
After careful interviews, the LOHV endorses candidates who commit to animal-protection legislation, campaigns for their election, and then lobbies those we helped elect. Committees within each chapter track bills, coordinate testimony, and keep members informed on how their representatives vote.
