About LOHV
A Strictly Non-Partisan Organization
LOHV's mission is to create, unite, and strengthen local political action committees to enact animal-friendly legislation and elect candidates who will vote for and influence animal protection legislation.
What Is the League of Humane Voters?
The League of Humane Voters, also known as LOHV, is an electioneering and lobbying political action committee (PAC). Its focus is to elect representatives who will vote for and enforce animal-protection laws, and to lobby for the enactment of such laws.
LOHV operates as a network of autonomous state chapters — each independent, each organized around the same core mission of turning animal advocates into an effective, unified voting bloc.
Who Is LOHV?
We are voters who feel strongly about animal protection — a network of autonomous state chapters who can influence their communities' elections and, together, carry statewide influence.
Chapters consist of friends of animals who want to see animal-protective laws passed. These laws cover a broad range of concerns: domestic animals, farmed animals, animals in labs, animals abused for entertainment, and wild animals.
Chapters operate according to an agreed-upon program of action — so while autonomous, every chapter works toward the same mission.
Why Is LOHV Needed?
Off the Radar
Animal-protective legislation is not on the radar screen of most municipal boards, state legislatures, or Congress. Those who would exploit animals tend to be favored over animal protectionists.
Turning Cries Into Victory
By organizing the animal-protective vote, LOHV turns passion into power. We will not allow our votes to be divided and conquered, and we will not allow other issues to diminish our vote.
We Can Out-Vote Them
While we can't compete with the millions of dollars from animal exploiters, we can out-vote them. You can add your vote by contacting an LOHV chapter in your area — or start your own.
Add Your Voice for the Animals
We can't out-spend the animal exploiters — but we can out-vote them. Join the League of Humane Voters and help turn compassion into law.
