Why Membership Matters

Membership is how we prove that animal advocates are a voting bloc worth listening to. Politicians respond to organized constituencies. The more members LOHV has, the more credibly we can say: there are voters watching this vote.

When our chapters go to a candidate and say "we represent X thousand humane voters in your district," that message lands differently than a form letter. Numbers matter in politics — membership builds those numbers.

What Membership Means

• You are counted as part of the humane voting bloc in your state and district.
• You receive updates on animal-protection legislation and endorsements from your local chapter.
• You can participate in chapter activities — canvassing, voter registration, candidate events.
• Your membership supports LOHV's lobbying and electioneering work at no additional cost.

Please note: Unlike many animal-protection organizations established as IRS 501(c)(3) groups, contributions to the LOHV are not tax-deductible because of our work to influence the political process.
